SWIMMING POOLS & SPAS / NSW + VICTORIA

Swimming pool permits.
From plans to completion.

Permit and certification guidance for pool builders, homeowners and owner-builders. Bring the pool, safety barrier and site details together before construction begins.

01

A new pool application starts with the whole site.

The pool shell is only part of the proposal. Show how the pool or spa, barrier, gates, surrounding levels and nearby structures fit together. Include associated retaining walls, decking or other works so we can discuss the complete scope.

If you are looking for an inspection of an existing pool barrier, use our pool barrier inspection service. That is a different enquiry from an application to construct a new pool.

NEW SOUTH WALES

Certification pathway.

Discuss whether your proposal needs development consent and a Construction Certificate, or can meet the requirements for a CDC. The right pathway depends on the proposed pool and the property.

02

Prepare the pool and barrier documents together.

  1. Your project and property

Contact details, site address, estimated cost of works, proposed pool or spa type and any existing approvals. Let us know who will carry out the work.

  2. Site and barrier layout

A site plan showing boundaries, buildings, easements, pool location, levels and the proposed barrier and gates. Show nearby retaining walls and other associated works.

  3. Pool design and specifications

Available pool engineering, construction specifications and relevant water circulation and filtration details. Identify the designers and suppliers.

  4. Appointment and supporting information

Use the state-specific checklist for engagement forms, application paperwork and supporting reports. Confirm any remaining site information with the team.

03

Plan inspections before work is covered.

Read the approval conditions and inspection stages with your pool builder. Contact iPermit with the project reference, stage, site contact and access details, and confirm the booking with our team.

Before bringing the project into use, confirm the required final inspection, completion documents and council registration requirements for your state. Installing the pool does not complete every approval step.

BEFORE YOU APPLY

A few useful answers.

Can you coordinate a pool permit in Greater Geelong?

Greater Geelong is an established iPermit service area. Our team coordinates assessment and communication, with inspections through contracted inspectors working in the region. See how we work in Greater Geelong.

Does an existing barrier certificate approve a new pool?

An existing pool-barrier compliance document does not replace the assessment and approvals for proposed construction. Tell us what is already on the property and what is changing.

What if I only have a pool supplier’s drawings?

Send them with the site address and your proposed location. We can discuss the additional site, barrier and application information needed. Supplier drawings may not describe the full installation.
