For properties in the Rural City of Wangaratta, the council provides building and property-information forms, including processes for relevant report and consent matters. These can concern siting, easements or flood-related requirements, depending on the proposal; they do not apply to every project.

Your building permit and planning permission.

Planning and building approvals serve different purposes. Confirm planning requirements with the council responsible for the property and supply any planning permit, endorsed plans and conditions.

1. Project brief

   Address, description, estimated cost of works and intended timing. Identify how the completed building will be used.

2. Design and site documents

   Available architectural plans, engineering, relevant property information and existing permits. Include council correspondence about the property.

3. Builder and inspection arrangements

   Confirm the builder or owner-builder arrangement and nominated project contact. We discuss the inspection stages and site coordination within the engagement.

The council responsible for the land may differ between towns. Use property-specific information rather than assuming Wangaratta’s local process applies across the North East.
