01

Building permit assessment.

A building permit addresses the proposed building work against the applicable building requirements. It is separate from a planning permit; some projects require both.

We assess the plans and supporting documents, communicate any further information needed and guide you through the building permit process. The scope and documentation depend on your proposed work, property and project circumstances.

  • New homes, alterations and additions
  • Commercial building work
  • Sheds, garages, pools and other relevant projects

02

Mandatory inspections during construction.

The building permit identifies the mandatory inspection stages for the work. These need to be planned into the construction program and requested before the relevant work is covered or progresses beyond the required stage.

We explain inspection arrangements as part of the engagement. Keep the approved documentation available and ensure the relevant work is ready for inspection.

03

The right completion document.

Your building permit states whether an Occupancy Permit or a Certificate of Final Inspection is required. These are different documents, and the required outcome should be understood from the start.

An Occupancy Permit addresses occupation of the building. A Certificate of Final Inspection records the final inspection outcome for work where that is the required completion document. Inspection outcomes and supporting certificates must be addressed before the applicable document can be issued.

04

Regional knowledge. Consistent support.

Our Victorian service areas include Wodonga, Wangaratta, North East Victoria, the Alpine region and Greater Geelong. We bring the same organised approach to each project: understand the scope, assess the information, communicate the requirements and coordinate the next step.

Share the project address, a short description and any plans or existing planning approval to start the conversation.

Your questions, answered.

Are planning permits and building permits the same?

No. Planning and building permits serve different purposes. A project may require one, both or neither, depending on the work and applicable requirements. Tell us what you are planning so the required checks can be identified.

Do you service Greater Geelong?

Yes. Greater Geelong is part of our Victorian service area. Our business is based in Albury–Wodonga, with project services coordinated by the iPermit team.
